West Virginia University (WVU) head men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins has had his salary reduced $1 million per year, given a three-game suspension and will be required to participate in sensitivity training following his “abhorrent” comments made while appearing on a Cincinnati radio show on Monday.
After his appearance, Huggins apologized and admitted there was no excuse for his hurtful language.
Before his docked pay was announced on Wednesday, Huggins’ annual salary was due to be $4.15 million before incentives, according to a school spokesperson.

This is possibly a 14th Amendment (14A) case. But there isn't enough information in the article to conclude that imo.

Note that UC Berkeley lost a 14A case awhile back, although I wouldn't be surprised if taxpayers ultimately paid the settlement.

In any case, he really wanted to keep his job...I don't blame him...The job does pay well...He may never get another coaching job that pays well like the WVU job...
Bob Huggins has been the whipping boy for leftist scum administrators his entire career. My blood still boils when I think how he was ran out of Cincinnati. He’s hall of fame, as much money as he could ever spend and not the healthiest. Here’s hoping he tells them to take their woke BS and stick it. The man deserves his retirement and woke free Lake Erie fishing.

Yes, "words matter". Let's take "homophobia", for example. Is the coach really, truthfully AFRAID of homos? No. Doubt it. If he had any balls, whatsoever, he'd sue them for slander or libel. But, unless the word supposedly hurts someone's little feelers, words seldom matter. Hell, most American youth don't even know the difference between the words "then" and "than"! Their teachers are too preoccupied with fake pronouns.

Huggy is 69 for goodness sakes. It’s not like he’s destitute and one step from the streets. He could retire with dignity and simply do something else, he certainly has job prospects.
Did his comment indicate that he was in fear of homosexuals?
A derogatory remark could indicate animosity towards homosexuals, it could indicate disdain for homosexuals, it could mean he simply does not like them. But it does not indicate fear. Thus the remark could not be classified as homophobic . Somebody should show a dictionary to all these people with their phobic crapola.
