A criminal investigation has been launched after a Missouri police officer was videoed punching a drunk man in the face, while he lay on the ground after being tased.
The video, which has been widely circulated online, shows two officers pinning a man down on the sidewalk outside of a bar in Columbia, Missouri, over the weekend.
In the video, two security guards and two police officers can be seen holding the man down as he is maced by one of the officers.
One of the security guards back off as the police shout at him to 'get on the ground'.
The man is then forced to the sidewalk as he begins saying: 'I don't understand what is going on'.
He then keeps repeating this, saying: 'I don't understand what's going on, can you explain to me what's going on.'
As he continues to question his arrest again, the police officer who has him pinned to the ground tasers him and then starts punching him repeatedly in the face.
Blood immediately begins pouring from the mans face in the video.
As the two officers continue to pin the man down, the man again asks: 'Please just tell me what is going on.'

Most people who are out of their minds drunk or high “have no idea what’s going on”
Had a friend who was a bouncer at a bar, so we’d go to the bar to chat, and get free drinks
I remember one drunk clown he had to deal with. A guy was grabbing women’s butts, and petting their hair.
When he got thrown out all he could say was: “but I was just complimenting them! WTF You doing??! I was just being nice!”
Daily Mail site is nearly impossible to navigate. I gave up trying to watch the video.
The video is very short with no context. The guy is clearly resisting. I’m not saying that justifies the cop’s actions but there isn’t enough information to reach any conclusions.
ad blocker is your friend on that site
DM website is a giant memory-suck. Its got so many video pop-ups, advertisements and cookies, its not worth the time waiting for them.
For those who are wondering, both the perp and cop are white.
My favorite is when you click the x to close out a pop-up and you get redirected to the pop-up. Complete joke of a site.
Maybe the nice police officer was just administering medical treatment? You know, trying to cauterize the wound?...
Same here in order to access the site they want me to turn off my pop-up blocker. How about NO.
The guy tried to knee the officer between the legs. His shoe even came off during that. I could understand the officer trying to gain control of the situation.
Also, if a man doesn’t want to cooperate, officers should have a lot of leeway to do what’s necessary in order to protect themselves and others.
They had to beat him into compliance
What are the clever canned responses? Surprised that someone hasn’t said play stupid games win stupid prizes or SPJNK. There is usually someone waiting for a chance.
Uncertain context, and not yet verified - from one of the comments (by Langdon Gustav) at:

re the fellow being detained:
“was assaulting bar employees and threatening bystanders. He assaulted both officers. One of the officers was kicked in the stomach multiple times”

On the other hand, a witness of the police activity, does not mention the above assault against an officer.
Witness speaks out on use-of-force investigation involving two Columbia police officers
“Charleston Foster was in the area of South Tenth Street when the incident happened and recorded the events on his cellphone.
Foster says he turned a corner Downtown and saw two security guards pinning a man to the ground. He said about 30 seconds later, police came. . .”
The problem with beating up an obnoxious drunk is they don’t remember the lesson the next day.
Whyte guy got beat up by cops. Move along, nothing too see.
“Focusing blow.”
Being arrested for drunk in public. If the bouncers had not thrown him in public this would not have happened.
“Daily Mail site is nearly impossible to navigate. I gave up trying to watch the video.”
I have said the same thing before. It’s a pity too, I enjoy their articles.
