These new EVs lose value the moment you drive them off the car lot...

RE: Cheap? I wouldn’t even take a free one.
C’mon, be a little business-minded. Take a free one and sell it for its market value. You’ll be about $40,000 richer.

I’ve thought about that and decided that, yes, if someone wanted to give me one, I’d accept it — but only so I could sell it at half-price and buy a big ol’ used Suburban.

Thank you for all the information (!) and photos,
however, not mentioned is how far they will go in 15 degree weather in a snowstorm.
Ambient temperature affects battery power life.
Also, if you run out of power enroute, how long will it take a tow truck to recharge your battery, and can they totally recharge so you can be on your way again ?
Also, some utilities are installing "smart meters" which can be controlled by central command
and have raised electric bills by triple the normal rate.
What happens if you exceed your allotted electric power for home heat in 15 degree temps ?

I would go with the Hyundai Kona. But only after checking out lots of reviews as to the mechanical reliability. This Australian car guy really liked it.
