John Fogerty says his CCR songs are ‘home where they belong’ following 50-year battle over rights

Fogerty is now embarking on his first tour since getting his song rights back

John Fogerty said this week he feels like the songs he wrote for Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) more than 50 years ago at the start of his career are finally "home where they belong."

"To get to play my songs now, feeling like they truly are home where they belong – and I get to sing ‘Proud Mary’ just like I sang it when I was 22 years old," the founding member of CCR told NBC News in an interview this week.

He was also sued by the Fantasy head Saul Zaentz in 1985 for plagiarizing the songs he wrote. The U.S. Supreme Court eventually sided with Fogerty. "I’m the dad [of these songs]. I created them," he told Billboard earlier this year. "They never should have been taken away in the first place. And that hijacking left such a massive hole in me."

Same here - I was astounded to learn that he was from N. Cal, given the soulful southern vibe of his music.

You either accept that these people own their work and can do with it as they please or you buy into the leftist “I can do whatever I want” crap.

He didn't own his music at that time. He only recently regained ownership.
I'm sure Trump paid the royalties to whomever owned the music at the time.

Everybody has one, and Democrats have two.

He shouldn’t have to ask for permission. All he has to do is pay the fee to the licensing agency, which doesn’t let the artist control who and where their work is played, as long as money transfers.

First concert I ever went to was to CCR in Seattle, 1969. (Real people lived there back then. 🙄)

When the radios stations I listened to as a young teen began to play ‘Conquistador’ by Procall Harum, I thought it was ‘Christopher’. I still understood enough of it to realize ‘Christopher’ was like a knight. Lol

At that time of my life my parents didn’t want to listen to that stuff. At. All.

We had begun to have fender mount tractor radios around 68. But didn’t start using headsets until about 73. So sometimes the noise was an added difficulty to understanding lyrics.
