Protesters jump onto subway tracks, clash with NYPD over Jordan Neely’s death
At least seven people were arrested in Manhattan Saturday after shutting down subway service and clashing with NYPD officers while protesting the chokehold death of homeless man Jordan Neely, law enforcement sources told The Post.
Dozens of demonstrators jumped onto the subway tracks at Lexington Avenue and East 63rd Street around 6:15 p.m., forcing an oncoming Q train to slam on the brakes at the mouth of the tunnel, video shows.
“No justice, no peace!” the protesters chanted as police can be heard struggling to call for order in the background.
The risky move caused the power to temporarily shut off in the Lenox Hill station.
After several minutes, the police were able to get the protesters off the tracks, allowing the train to roll into the station, but demonstrators were determined to continue blocking transit service.
The group was calling for justice in the case of Neely’s Monday homicide.

How about they protest the fact that a mentally ill US citizen was in the subway complaining about being hungry, thirsty, and homeless while ILLEGAL ALIENS are being housed in 5 star hotels with free food, clothing, even Xbox video games.
$22 glasses of champagne, $20 ‘hand-stretched’ pizzas and views of the NYC skyline: Inside the $700-a-night Manhattan hotel that’ll be home to migrants bussed from the Texas border - but they’ll be made to use a SEPARATE entrance to tourists
Yes it makes no sense, until, you realize the endgame is the complete crushing destruction of the united states and all who live here.
There’s a solution to that. Don’t slam on the brakes.
I was rooting for the third rail, but apparently no such luck.
When did they last protest the murder of a white person by a black?
Or a regular innocent bystander that a homeless person murdered?
Yep. As far as I’m concerned our government is under enemy occupation and this enemy is supporting and empowering anything or anybody that contributes to the destruction of this nation. Look at that latest ad for Navy recruitment, they used a drag queen!! What does that tell anybody with half a brain? They are trying to REDUCE recruitment to weaken the Navy! Everything this enemy occupation of our government does is to harm to country.
Will NYC pay for the room damages? Oh and I would love to stay in a luxury hotel knowing the emigrants lived in the room...... after all no one checked them for Diseases when they came across the boarder.
Hoe would those same ‘protesters’ feel if they were trapped in a subway car with a dangerous, lunatic on the loose??
They would call for the police, but the officer had better not use a choke hold on him or they would protest that.
“… when someone defends themself”
He’s a marine. I believe he was defending the train full of people from a guy who screamed he wanted to die. That would be quite concerning to me. There’s not much more a confined space than a subway car in motion.
I hate this country. I hate our military. I hate our government. I hate it all. This isn’t the country I was born in. We are the new Soviet Union. Let it all burn.
I hear that train a-comin, it’s rolling round the bend,,,
Mostly white liberal fools.
I know this was not your intent but let's not concede the point that a murder even took place here. The Marine likely had his adrenaline flowing when he put the assailant into a chokehold. I doubt that he was trying to truly kill the guy, but instead just trying to keep him restrained until law enforcement officers arrived to take control. Who knows what would have happened if this lunatic was able to get loose and get back up again. After all, he has a rap sheet a mile and a half long with at least 42 arrests for other crimes.
I ride the NYC subways often and I often wonder how I would react if I saw somebody attacking or harassing other passengers. I'm a Marine too and I don't think I could just sit there trying to mind my own business when something like that is going on. Likely I would take some action to restrain the guy. I can't see myself getting on the floor with him and putting him in a chokehold. But I could see myself shoving him to the floor (I'm a big guy) and ensuring that he doesn't get back up to bother other people. I would hope in that situation that other passengers would get involved and support me in restraining this assailant.
That all said, and I know this will rub some Freepers the wrong way, especially those who don't know NYC, the subway systems here are pretty safe overall. I've been riding them for years with no major incident. Maybe I'm just lucky but consider that millions of NYC commuters ride these subways every day for decades. It's almost a wonder these kind of incidents don't happen more often then they do, because there is certainly a lot of riff-raff down in those tunnels. Especially later at night and in the dicier neighborhoods around town.
This incident reminds me of the sensational press coverage whenever somebody gets attacked by a shark. Now millions of people go swimming at the beaches every year without incident. But one shark attack and suddenly everybody is afraid to go in the water for a while.
It's a shame that the Marine was only trying to do the right thing and protect his fellow passengers from a career criminal scumbag and now his reward is a possible prison sentence. Even at best, if he is acquitted, he will have these racist hyenas following him everywhere he goes and surrounding his house and whatnot.
I'm tired of dirtbags like George Floyd and this subway bum getting lionized by race-baiting leftists.
Hey, protests are just Gen Zeros hobby.
Is the the same young Communist group that was protesting the incident the day before yesterday?
“There’s a solution to that. Don’t slam on the brakes.”
My thoughts exactly. All it would take is one incident of “full speed ahead”. There would be no more track blocking.
run ‘em over.
