Chechen wars (both of them )were longer so far. I have a feeling Russia doesn’t mind long protracted war...the whole thing is a shame. Lies from both sides

The Chechen wars were “far off colonial wars” — in a wild area that has been wild for a long time.

The first cost 14K Russian lives, the second probably the same.

The first was 4 years, the second 2 years, but both were again - “far away” and not on everyone’s day to day mind.

The Muscowite invasion of Ukraine has hit harder and closer to home. Plus it is a larger and has had more of a day to day impact on Moscow and St. Petersburg.

it’s like comparing the Boer war to World War One for the UK
