A closer inspection of the video shows Officer Schroeder’s finger was inside the trigger guard. Hobart-Lawrence Police Chief Michael Renkas tells our sister station WISN Officer Schroeder couldn’t explain that but denied doing anything outside his training. And the Chief says that was "not outside his training"?

I know it often comes down to training.
But, I wonder how common it was for police officers and others to shoot themselves in the thigh or ass when carrying revolvers was the norm?
I also wonder about the standard of marksmanship among professionals during the revolver era as well.
