THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for the link to those clothes. Do you know how the sizes run?

We are here in tick infested NH and are constantly finding them on us and would love to have protection like that for when we are out on our property. Considering how bad all tick borne diseases can be, these would be worth their weight in gold, literally.

The prices are not unreasonable either. Very comparable to other camping clothing.

Infectious Disease ping - Lone Star Tick from the SouthEast US is expanding its territory into New England, causing an allergic food reaction
The Lone Star Tick bite transmits an allergy to mammal meats and poultry which that stricken patient doesn't associate with a food allergy when suffering several hours later
The FReeper comments accompanying this article include prevention, and treatment, as well as physical symptoms from exposure

(From the article):"The lone star tick is making its way into Massachusetts from the southeastern part of the United States.
People will find them on Nantucket and the coast.
The tick's bite can cause some people to develop an unexpected food allergy.
"The reason we are seeing more coastal areas is because there is a substantial difference when it comes to temperature in coastal regions than inlands,"
explained Dr. Goudarz Molaei, Chief Scientist at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.
"In some municipalities it has become a major problem or predominant tick."

"When these ticks bite certain animals they can acquire a sugar molecule from the blood.
When they bite a person, that molecule can get transferred into the body."

"A diagnosis isn't clear because the reaction may come while you are asleep, and no one relates it to eating a steak for dinner six hours before,"
said Dr. Aleena Banerji, Clinical Director at Mass General Hospital's Allergy and Immunology unit.
"The exposure of that sugar molecule in humans triggers an allergic reaction that at times can be severe."

" Dr. Banerji says people can grow out of the allergy, but it can take a long time.
She also recommends that anyone who has acquired this allergy should carry an EpiPen on them.
Eating red meat can cause anaphylaxis.
"The symptoms are delayed allergic reactions, and could be hives, swelling, could be lip swelling, nausea and vomiting," lists Dr. Banerji."

Thanks, Pete! Pulled the first Wood Tick (not attached!) off the Beagle the other day. He and the cats just got ‘dosed’ with Frontline.

The hunting dogs are getting sprayed this week; they haven’t been ‘in the field’ yet this season.

Beau is also getting them the tick shots this season. Not cheap, but cheaper than treating them for Lymes disease!

Sorry, I don’t know! Shop around at the various sports suppliers. They may have other similar products.

Well, I sometimes have chiggers here, but I have not as far as I know, had ticks!

(I never remember getting chiggers up north, just deer fly and mosquitoes and black flies and stuff.)
