So, the parents took their child to the doctor because he was not feeding, throwing up and losing weight, a 10-month-old BTW, if I read correctly, who was being exclusively breast fed (no solid foods at 10 months old – exclusively being breast fed???)
The child was admitted to the hospital for severe malnutrition. Under care at the hospital and I presume getting proper nourishment for a child that age, he gained weight and was released back to his parent’s care with instructions to follow up with doctor’s appointments and “presumably” I can assume, counseling on feeding a 10-month-old child.
They went to one follow up appointment where it was discovered the child had again lost a significant amount of weight, but they didn’t follow up on any subsequent appointments.
The parents canceled the next follow-up appointment and could not be located.” Police were finally able to contact the infant’s father, who agreed to find the child in for an exam—but then they failed to show up again.
The very last appointment they were supposed to make before CPS stepped in, the mother claimed she was feeling too ill that morning and couldn’t make it. Yet later that very same day she was well enough to go out to dinner with her husband and friends.
Officials told Anderson they had made the decision to take Cyrus into Child Protective Services based on what his doctors said, that he was severely malnourished. Their concern was the care of the child, an officer told her in the ambulance. He said he didn’t want her to go to jail but he needed her to hand over the baby to the EMT.
“I won’t,” Anderson said during the livestream. “He only takes breast milk. He needs me. He really needs me.”
“He only takes breast milk” - a 10-month-old.
While a 10-month-old can still be breast fed, supplemented with breast milk or formula, at that age they need to also be eating semi-solid or solid foods, introduced to new foods, meats, vegetables, fruits, healthy grains, eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc.
Perhaps the volume and quality of her breast milk was not enough at this point to provide her 10-month-old with enough nutrition, but because of some sort of cultish beliefs and support from Bundy and his cult, they would rather let the child die from malnutrition because:
FREEDUMBS!
No, they had been trying to introduce food other than breast milk, but the child couldn’t keep it down. Which is what initiated visits to the doctor. And the doctors couldn’t find a problem, which didn’t give them a solution to the issue. It didn’t sound to me like a case of severe malnutrition, just that the vomiting was something that had to be figured out & dealt with. The nurse did not say that the child was “in danger” which is the criteria for CPS to get involved.
