Not that anyone should watch Fox News, but the Gutfeld Show is the highest rated Late Night show by far.
You don’t have to give a dime to Fox, just watch it on Youtube the next morning. Usually commercials are edited out, so that’s a plus.
The old Jackie Gleason Show, ‘The Honeymooners’, with Art Carney, Audrey Meadows, and Joyce Randolph, had a similar situation one time.
It was a ‘live’ show, broadcast from NYC, and was the most popular show at the time.
There was no video tape and reruns were not yet a ‘thing’.
One week they had no script and no rehearsals. They ad-libbed the whole show! and no one knew......................
Remember a previous writers’ strike that lasted quite a while and gave rise to the spate of reality shows.
If you subscribe to cable or a streaming service, Fox already got their money.
“Reality shows” were scripted, too.

Two of my neighbors in the LA area took part in a couple of reality shows. They said they had a fair bit of scope when it came to their lines.

I have never watched any of these shows or any of these clowns on them, but then again I knew real stars, and yes I knew Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and Merv Griffin, both of them were very nice and real people, these clowns are just talking marxist fools without an original thought in their empty heads.

I don’t know if it makes a difference, but Gutfeld is filmed in NYC/Manhattan. Not in CA like all the others.

Even though Carson had the best writers in the business, he could still do his own jokes.................
