Two US organizations – a non-profit and a corporation – are planning to “quietly” give governments around the world the right to seize domain names by means of canceling, redirecting, or transferring control.
This is based on the “Proposed Renewal of the Registry Agreement for .NET” – recently published by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and Verisign.
Verisign is in charge of operating .COM and .NET TLDs (top-level domains, and while what critically-minded observers say the controversial paper now aims to change relates only to the .NET domain names, the fear is that the world is in for a slippery slope, that could eventually – as it comes up on the agenda of contract renewal – affect .COM the same way.

Like a tiger who’s tasted human blood, these power-mad men just can’t stop themselves.
And...this will be done by another UNCONSTITUTIONAL ‘Executive Order’, bypassing any possible Congressional objections....
They’ll never stop.
Another way of shutting down Twitter or any website the Deep State Bolsheviks don’t like.
Besides, Congress is way too gutless, or out-and-out traitors, to meaningfully object to anything that destroys the Constitutional freedoms of Americans.

No need. FedGov long ago surrendered any control over the internet. Neither Congress nor the President has any say in the matter now.
And that is why I have been harping about moving to decentralized blockchain networks as an alternate away from the regulated/indexed tier. There are some very cool options out there that work well and are easy to use. The only way they could stop these would be to shut down all internet access.
But it takes a little time and effort to set these up. No one wants to make the effort and so we are all going to get caught with our pants down.
If you have any links to learn more, I’m interested
You got more info on this???
Absolutely guys... How it works. Each install is both client and a server node in the network. So it is by nature self supported by the member machines and has no central servers or controls.

Some of the projects that could be utilized and/or Communities built on.
For messaging and file sharing qTox is great. We have a community that has been using it for a couple years now.
This one is great and wide open for expansion and utilization. I have been playing with ZeroNet for a year now.
This one looks extremely interesting and I like the features. But... It is not open source so I am personally leery of it. Could be a trap protocol, Blockchain networks need to be open source or they can’t be trusted. And it is actually the same as ZeroNet except for the additional crypto mining feature.
An older project: GNUnet
But these are just a couple examples of what can be done to unchain ourselves from the “normal internet”. No domain names are needed, each has their own extremely secure identification system and extremely secure encrypted anonymous security/privacy system. It would be fairly simple to build a community using this technology and ditch the regulated internet.
The only way to shut these down is to block all internet access.
Thank you very much for taking time to list links!
My privilege!
thank you Friend
My privilege! :)
I have been playing with this stuff for the last year and it has merit as a very viable option. In fact Corporations have been using these protocols to create their own private network since the internet began.
you have given me a lot to think about and work on, between setting up my NAS, and this i will be busy all summer long..
thank you again
:)
If you decide to check out ZeroNet give me a holler here by PM and I will meet you in there. It is currently like a ghost town. But that will change soon. The ZeroNet platform and protocol is about to hear it’s calling and become popular. We are working on forking our own ZeroNet and making our own community network. :)
Ok I will do so when I get to that point
