My understanding is that backyard pools kills more children than firearms. More children die in accidental deaths by drowning than in accidental deaths with firearms.
The statistic of the Orwellian term "gun violence" combines accidents, murders, self defense, and suicide all together to come up with a statistic, the purpose of which, is to push public disarmament.
Those divergent events all have different causes and cures, but are lumped together to push gun control.
