Why don’t folks just do linux?
Buy a machine from a geek that will build you one without the Windows crap
Oh, golly - I MIGHT get that accomplished over several machines and Linux “well learned” by the time I’m in elder care (10 years?*) I’m slowin’ down and have an absolute crapload to do in my remaining time, already.
If I’m “lucky”, after that my wife will haul my behind off to Philippines for my last few years - she has a small property there that even has fishing access nearby!

Because the 50,000 of engineering and CAM software I have licensed only runs on windows. When my software budget is 10k per year the computer and OS is not an issue.
