“Hey! Get ____! Get ______!”
I confess to being a heathen. I like the Billy Idol version better, but find both good.
Tommy James’ book on how he got caught up with the mob and Roulette Records is an entertaining and informative read.
Too many drugs, though.
Well you won't be burned at the stake, but if Idol had did a cover of "Crimson and Clover", I might consider it.
Just kidding.
How many kids buying those cool orange Roulette 45s knew they were supporting the mob!

There used to be so many cool record labels back then. The yellow/orange Capitol records, the plain pink Bigtop records, The horse emblazoned Steed Records, Motown with its blue integrated map, Kama Sutra with the weird lettering and pink background, the baby blue Fontana records, the brown and beige Tamla records, and so many others.
Haven’t thought about this song in years and this post caused me to wonder what a mony mony was...

“According to the story, in James’ Manhattan Apartment, he and his writing partner, Richie Cordell, were actually going through the dictionary, trying to come up with a word. Nothing worked. So, James stepped out onto the balcony to get a breath of fresh air, and there in front of him was a flashing neon sign on top of the 40 story Mutual Of New York Insurance Company. M.O.N.Y. James had his song title. After he told Cordell, the duo “both fell down laughing.””
Aaaargh.... beat me to it.
What about the Joan Jett version?
Joan gets a pass.
Joan Jett did, and I loathe it. Is that redemption?
I worked for MONY for 11 years and went to the Broadway office often. I stayed in a French hotel a block away. I bribed the bartender my first night there with a thoughtful gesture. It was always a fun biz trip.

In an interview he got the idea for the song driving by the building.
Billy Idol does it pretty good.
