Brittney Griner addressed the media for the first time since her return to the United States on Thursday. The seven-time WNBA All-Star spoke on her experience after being detained in a Russian penal colony for 10 months last year.
She also made a very important announcement.
Griner said that - barring playing for the United States in the Olympics - she would not go overseas to play basketball again, as she had done in Russia before being detained......

The rest of the world rejoices.
She was detained in a foreign country for not respecting their laws. Why would she even be considered for an Olympic slot at this point? Then again in this country law breakers are the real victims so I guess I can see it happening.
Oh, I thought it was going to say she is returning to Russia in exchange for both the arms dealer and the Marine imprisoned there. How disappointing!! š¤
I had the idea — and don’t recall where I saw the claim — that Britney Griner is “intersex,” a term I don’t like but which seems to be the term of art at the moment. DSD’s (differences/disorders of sexual development) get complicated fast. Has Griner ever been tested? Have the test results ever been released?
The iconic case in recent years if of course Caster Semenya. As far as I know, Semenya was raised as a girl by his parents. He has always competed as female. His physical appearance led to questions from the earliest stages of his career. He passed the eyeball test at various times. I have never seen it suggested that he has ever had surgery, so I presume his external genitalia are ambiguous or even appear female. Semenya has always said that he found this humiliating, which I can understand.
Semenya’s legal battles at the highest levels of international athletic governing bodies led eventually to genetic testing. Every effort was made to keep this secret but the results leaked. If the reports are accurate, Semenya has 46 XY, DSD, which is itself quite a basketful of related conditions.
Androgen insensitivity (which can be moderate or complete) is among these. If Semenya has complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS), he may present with external genitalia that appear female (though he would not have a uterus or ovaries; there could even be an apparent vaginal fold that doesn’t connect to anything). HOWEVER, Semenya apparently does have XY chromosomes and fully functioning undescended testes, so he produces a full male dosage of testosterone.
I have always felt sorry for Semenya — who again, as far as I know, was raised as a girl and passed the below-the-belt eyeball test years ago. The problem, however, is that Semenya is being used as a wedge to drive a campaign with objectives far beyond dealing sensibly with very rare intersex conditions, and the gender warrior zealots go out of their way to conceal the relevant scientific information. Semenya’s information is out there, although the vast majority of propaganda “news” organizations refuse to print it. I just did a quick scan of articles on Brittney Griner. Virtually every “news” story simply ignores the genetic question and adopts the view that self-identification is all that matters and that it is unforgivable to even ask the question.
A wrecking ball has been unleased on women’s athletics, and the culture warriors lie about their wedge cases, relying on complete information dominance to silence truth tellers. Which is the world we live in today.
So: has Britney Griner ever been tested?
They should have let him rot in jail.
