I’ve done that with the Alienware and a really long hdmi cable.

WebTV on steroids.

The tv I had/have (still haven’t been able to check it out due to no power and size) is an LG Smart WebOS and internet built in.

Works yeah but speed isn’t epic.

It should work well enough to get at your data and download it to a thumb drive, or use some diagnostic software like Glary Utilities and CCleaner to possibly solve solve your problem..........................
