I don't know about lazy. Conservatives are just, by definition, not looking for control over other people. Leftists are always scheming, plotting, inventing ways to destroy and control. It's what they do with their free time since they don't have spouses, families, mortgages...
"Thankfully, the pushback is continuing to gain momentum, but the shift will not come through a single election (or even series of elections), as important as the elections might be."
If you were one to count blessings, at least consider the fact that the Left has to cheat to win elections. They have not converted nearly enough people to join in their fantasy.
Conservatives have a wide libertarian streak, which means they want to live in peace with their neighbors, help people when desired or needed, and keep private behavior private. They or “we,” don’t automatically tell others how to live as a first resort. There are exceptions, but from the religious crowd, primarily.
So how is it “lazy” to raise your own family, promote positivity and tradition, pay scandalous taxes, and do no harm to anyone when everything everywhere is fixed and controlled by the other side?
“If you were one to count blessings, at least consider the fact that the Left has to cheat to win elections. They have not converted nearly enough people to join in their fantasy.”
They couldn’t care less about convincing people. All they care about is getting enough power to FORCE you to submit.
Much more effective way to get what you want than the time consuming effort of convincing with uncertain results.
And they don’t view cheating as a negative but as a huge achievement on their part.
Good point, but the cheating only gives them the marginal edge to push close elections to them. There is still a massive number of people who swallow the whole leftist agenda, enough to put them within cheating range.
Thus, the Overton Window description still applies. Imagine if leftists were pushing what they push today back in the mid-80's or earlier. They wouldn't get 5% of the vote, in ANY state.

There is some truth to the notion that conservatives by nature are not looking to control other people.
However there is also an aspects of laziness and/or lack of courage on their part since they have shown very little pushback against people who are trying (and succeeding) to control their (conservatives) lives.
We have just knuckled under. And that’s the result of laziness and lack of interest and courage to effectively fight back.
Bottom line - the left is willing to fight for their beliefs more than we are willing to fight for ours.
The 64k question is, “What, if anything, is going to change that equation?”
