I will chime in with second hand observations about seeing “angels” in hospital rooms, Jesus sitting in the chair besides the bed, and dead relatives being ‘with’ us in hospital rooms.
I have also heard two accounts of men cursing God up to their dying breaths and visitors in the hospital room seeing absolute terror in their eyes as life went out of them.

Not only those with dementia but others with profound, debilitating mental illness can present this. I read of one nurse who saw an institutionalized adult woman begin singing coherently and cheerfully with words relating to her approaching death, which came within a day or two. She was completely unable to communicate before that. The nurse said it was if she put on another “outfit” before death, something that was always with her but never shown.
After reading hundreds of NDE accounts I believe, as does T&R, that some consciousness does reside outside of our physical body and only manifests during divine intervention before death (not all happen in death or injury situations) or the pre car-crash life review, for example.
I’ve also wondered if the common occurrence of death within seconds after a beloved family member leaves the room is because the person separates from their body to follow that person. Have seen this at least once, though I hear it happens very frequently. T&R please comment.

To either be Saved or to speak to a person needing to hear the Word at a set time.

My mother had terminal lung cancer and was in hospice when she perked up, had supper and talked to all of us in a clear, perfect voice. She died later that night. We know it was God’s way of letting her say goodbye and visit with us one last time. We cherish the memory.
That was my thought as well.
It’s not just with dementia. It’s with many who are dying for any number of causes and it’s not just humans.
Very common to see someone or an animal after slowly dying for days or weeks or longer to suddenly “perk up” for a brief period of time, before death finally takes them.
I have witnessed this fist hand numerous times in my life, from mammals, birds and even fish.. as well as humans.
Personally I think it’s just one last gasp of survival instinct fighting the inevitable.

I’ve read that whenever we die, we release bowels , bladder, and brain chemicals. What if as we near death adrenaline, dopamine, melanin, and such start to “leak”.
life is messy, and apparently it ends that way too.
Also, please, no sass about how this time, Trump will win. Please. The Deep State will murder Trump if it looks like they can't steal another election from him.
