RIP. Bob Newhart represents an era when comedians were actually funny and apolitical.

I know it’s about his wife but Bob Newhart, “the “Elf” actor”? Sheesh.

RIP, Mrs. Newhart. Condolences to Bob & family.
She came up with the ending for the second Newhart show? Classic!

Hope she rests in peace, and condolences for her family

I know it’s about his wife but Bob Newhart, “the “Elf” actor”? Sheesh. My reaction as well. One of the greatest comedians of all time. "Elf actor" was not exactly my reaction when I read the name "Bob Newhart".

For me, Bob’s best moment was his appearance on Mad TV. I won’t spoil it if you’ve never seen it, but it’s a classic.

My parents had the 1960 album of a live performance of Bob Newhart's "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart." I was 5 in 1960 so I probably didn't listen to it and pay attention until a few years later but that was my introduction to his genius.
Here it is on Youtube ...
The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart
This was the original album cover.

and worth watching-He was hilarious without having to resort to profanity or political attacks.

Newhart has always been my favorite comedian.
It’s wonderful when we hear that a ‘Hollywood’ couple stayed married to one another for so many years.

So much more than “Elf”, indeed (although it is a Christmas must in my house every year). One of the most brilliant comedic minds ever. Two highly successful television shows that spanned into 3 different decades. Three Grammys, one Emmy, and a golden globe. A rapier-like wit, king of timing and delivery, and a master of the deadpan. Mucho condolences from cport and the three Darrell’s.

I’ve got that album and several others by Newhart loaded on my iPad. Classic stuff!

If you’re talking about the show wherein he runs a hotel the episode in question isn’t listed on Prime for the last season. Was there another series?
