A Utah Republican lawmaker's home was vandalized after he sponsored a bill to halt sex change operations and hormone therapy for transgender minors - as LGBTQ rights groups call for left-wing extremists to stand down.
Senator Mike Kennedy's Alpine garage doors and driveway were plastered with red paint that read,' Fash... These trans.. bash back.'
Kennedy was a part of the controversial Senate Bill 16 that prohibited youth from seeking 'gender-affirming care' effective January.
The lawmaker condemned the vigilantes behind the act on Friday as he garnered support from LGBTQ+ groups.
To those who seek to use violence, vandalism, and intimidation to deter me from standing up for what is right, let me be clear: you will not succeed. I will not be deterred by your cowardly actions,' Kennedy wrote on Facebook.
'The recent vandalism to my family's home was not just an attack on me, but on the very principles our state stands for.
'We will not let fear and violence control our destiny. As Utahns, we will always stand up and push back against radicals who seek to push their agenda in our state.
'I am more determined than ever to work with the good people of Utah to make our state a better place for all, especially our children, and I won't back down.'
An LGBTQ+ group, Equality Utah, supported Kennedy and claimed 'extremist' actions do not help fight for what the group believes in.
'As LGBTQ Americans, we know what it is like to be on the receiving end of violence. We know what it is like to fear for our own safety,' the group wrote in a statement.

Not sure what your complaining about, unless you feel like the term vigilante has positive connotations. It’s supposed to be a negative descriptor of someone that violates the law for their own perception of justice.
The media took vigilante as a negative descriptor, but when they applied it to the vandals they avoided calling them criminals.
They suggested they might have had cause to do the graffiti.
All you need to do is slap it ‘real hard’ a couple of times, and that will ‘learn it a lesson’.
