REDDING, Calif. — Police arrested a man in downtown Redding on Tuesday night after he was found carrying a musket-style antique pistol, they said.
Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, officials with the Redding Police Department said their officers were called to the Burger King off of Eureka Way for a report of a man seen walking around with a handgun on his bag. Officers said they responded to the area and contacted the suspect.
Police say the suspect gave them the name Ryan Battles, but he was later identified as Brandon Battles.
After searching Battles's bag, police said they found an antique black-powdered pepperbox revolver, black powder and iron pellets.
Ultimately, police said Battles was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. Police believe the antique gun was recently stolen and are asking locals if they recognize it.

That’s not a musket, that’s a pepperbox. A musket is a long gun.

It’s a cheesy pepper box replica made who knows where. Probably blow up in his hand in a chain fire.

"iron pellets." Hmmm, maybe not.. I think not too. I have been shooting black powder firearms, both percussion and flintlock, for well over 50 years and I never heard of iron pellets being used in them. Maybe the "journalist" who thought it was a musket type weapon, thought lead balls were iron pellets.
