I saw him many times. He was the greatest piano player, and probably greatest musician I ever saw, except for Oscar Peterson.

In 1967, I was with a small audience at
Basin St West when Jamal invited us to sit by his piano down front. It was a great experience. He ocasionally reached one hand into the grand and strummed chords as he played.
It was an unforgettable experience. He was a virtuoso in every sense of the word.⁰
