My wife and her friend went shopping years ago and when through, the both got into the wrong car. Same model, color and style as her car, but she tried to start it and the key wouldn’t work. That’s when they noticed stuff in the car that didn’t belong there, like stuff on the dashboard.

Another time we were having dinner in a café next to a Winn-Dixie at a table where I could see my car in the parking lot. A woman with a cart full of groceries came out and tried to get into my car, a Lincoln Town Car.

She tried the key in the door, the trunk and the unlock code numbers on the driver’s door. Then she started peeking into the windows because I had dark tint at that time. She then realized she had the wrong car and looked around quickly to see if anyone was coming and saw he own car in a different line. I didn’t think about it until afterwards, but I could have hit the alarm button on my remote and scared her off!................ ..........

My folks went to a party in Los Angeles around 1954 driving their new Ford Station Wagon. Like many folks in the 50s, the post WW II crowd loved a good time and lots of booze. They got in the wrong car and drove it home! Somehow they discovered the mistake the next morning and got it all straightened out. I never got a chance to ask Dad for the details, but he probably wouldn’t have remembered them anyway.

Back then, there weren’t that many car key combinations and (obviously) no chips or car alarms.

About 25 years ago, we were in a hotel and my then young son asked me about the key cards, how they worked, why they only worked on our room. He asked me “So it won’t work on any other room” and I replied “Nope.” So he grabbed our key and started down the hall testing it and, on the THIRD door he tried, it unlocked the door. He ran back to our room rather scared. I could not believe it.

I was on a business trip years ago. One of our VP’s came out of the hotel in the morning and got into what he thought was his rental car. His key worked, and he drove off.

The cops pulled him over. When he explained, they took him back to the hotel, and his key indeed worked in the correct car. They didn’t press charges.

Long time ago...my next door neighbors parked their car in a parking garage. They left...and came back to something they were not prepared for. They were elderly...and saw someone open their car door...and the person got in.

The person noticed something on the backseat...that wasn't his. My neighbors were dumbfounded..as was the gentleman that got in their car. They had that exact same car...with the exact same color. And apparently the exact same key to the cars.

Crazy...
