JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an officer was shot in the parking lot of Baptist Health South Tuesday night.
According to Sheriff T.K. Waters, at around 9:30 p.m., security at Baptist Health South was made aware of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. However, when the security officer tried to engage, the suspect drove around the parking lot at a high speed, and that is when security called JSO for backup.
When JSO officers arrived, the suspect pulled up, held what looked like a gun out the window and asked police to “shoot me.”
