Sabaton-“1916”
YouTube ^

This is Sabaton’s cover of Motörhead’s War epic “1916”. This is an emotional song and video about the Battle of the Somme. You may need some tissues handy.

Sabaton also honors Lemmy and Motörhead in the video. Classy.

I saw Hawkwind back in the day.

Sonic Attack live was awesome.

Three songs Lemmy wrote/co-wrote while in Hawkwind ended up on Motorhead’s first album, namely “Motorhead”, “The Watcher” and “Lost Johnny”.

YW.

Hawkwind’s version of “The Watcher” is very different from Motorhead’s; it’s acoustic, has no drums and has a very psychedelic feel.

I never had the pleasure to see Motörhead live but I have seen Sabaton in concert twice.

Lemmy was great, but I prefer Sabaton’s version. IMO, it’s more emotional. Admittedly, the video really makes it more special.

To each his own.
