They don’t here yet (GA), I have a vet I use for surgeries who checks annually, but my farm vet only checks if I ask.

The Vets here have you by the short hairs, so to speak. LOL If you don’t get all the shots, HW tests, etc. they don’t treat the dog without them or give meds. I took my oldest for a visit at another Vet because our Vet was busy. She tore her dew claw and he saw that she was two weeks past due on her rabies vax so he wouldn’t treat her unless he could give it to her. I had to take proof to my Vet to be added to her record. You can’t get HW meds from any Vet here unless you have them tested and examined annually.

The CanadaVet doesn’t require prescriptions for HW meds. The only downside to Canada is that the meds have to go through Customs and it takes a little longer. I order more when they take the last pill. That way I have it before it’s due again.

I still get mine tested annually though to be safe.

My daughter has a farm vet that comes to the farm to take care of her goats. While he’s here, he checks her two outside dogs for HW and gives them their shots if they need them. She has a Redbone Coonhound and one of the big Blue Heelers that looks a little like a German Shepard. Her little Feist, the brother to my two girls, goes to a regular small animal Vet.
