Wow! That's amazing. I'm not that frivolous, but for people who have money to throw at such things, I can see that. I imagine that is probably one of the best collectibles from the series. That reminds me of a conversation between Siskel and Ebert years ago about 2001 A Space Odyssey. Evidently, the prop manager was cleaning up after production was done and he decided the prop used for the monolith was taking up too much room, so he threw it away - wow!

NASA begrudgingly accorded him some attention when he urged them to note the position of rock samples collected by Apollo flights on the moon - at which they laughed uproariously because everyone knew that there had been no tectonic activity on the moon in millions of years thus no magnetic poles... The first rock samples showed polar magnetism but of course they paid no attention to the placement of the samples so learned nothing from that initial experience.

They subsequently invited Velikovsky to speak at NASA - without much enthusiasm.

Velikovsky was more of a Bible scholar - and believer - than a scientist. He tended to prove his scientific observations by quoting Scripture --- anathema to NASA - and Carl Sagan. Still today on such shows as 'How the Universe Works' I hear Velikovsky's ideas {space is not empty but is made up of a plasma...} - but without giving him any credit for the data. 🤷‍♂️ He even predicted that Venus would be the only planet to rotate retrograde... such an idiot! 🤯
