Not all pits lines are bad. Unethical pit breeding is mainly the cause for the unprovoked viciousness — the bad lines/genetics should be identified and culled through attrition/sterilization

I’ve seen these animals attack and kill kids so many times before. They need to be outlawed or forbidden around children, PERIOD!!
Then when you're done with the breeders do the same with the dogs.
In addition, socialization is critical. Pups removed from a litter too young, as shade-tree breeders will do, are not going to be good dogs.
First off, “pit-bull terrier” is a TYPE, not a breed. There are MANY breeds that fall under this type - some that officially no longer do, and are no longer “fighters”. Boston Terriers e.g., and Bull Terriers are mostly reliable.
As far as breeding - the best bet is to go by what breeds are unreliable, and after that, only rely on (conformation) show lines. Anything else is questionable and likely unknown at best. Safer to cull all those.
