““Most, in fact few, valedictorians have 1590 SATs.” What does this sentence mean? It makes no sense.”
Now I see what you are saying. Your explanation makes perfect sense. Very few valedictorians have 1590 SATs.
He came in second to hundreds of Asian-American valdictorians with 1600 SAT scores.
He came in second to hundreds of Asian-American valdictorians with 1600 SAT scores.
Princeton class of 2026:

- 17% of students in the class are the first in their families to go to college.
- 61% of students in the class qualify for financial aid.

Middle 50% SAT Scores*

Wrong demographic in several ways:
- race (white bad, Asian worse)
- family income

And likely wrong extra curricular profile:
- wasn’t president of LGBT+ club

A person with this kind of aptitude can go far in academia. And if technical, non humanities, he/she will excel in industry because contrary to the myth, businesses want to make money and a person like this will help them achieve that goal.
“ He’d be much better off attending Western Welding Academy than Harvard.”
Yes but Western Welding Academy has no space for preferred pronouns on their application page.
So there’s that factor working against them.
—”shop classes which were not as highly rated as honors French “
I worked for many years with a PE that often said if not for shop class he would never have finished high school.
And he is disappointed that most schools in our area are dumping shop classes.
Better at a state school. Best at a Christian College though each must be investigated because some are tainted with Woke. Best is Hillsdale or Thomas More.
That is my first recommendation.
Just 3000? There’s over 3000 counties.
Quite a few counties have unified school districts but each high school in the district typically has a valedictorian.
Where I grew up in PA, there were quite a few school districts — fewer school districts than municipalities (townships, boroughs, cities, etc.) but still quite a few.
What were his MCAT’s?
It’s not impossible to go from Engineering to Medical School but it’s not the usual route.
I’d have liked it better as something like:
Most? In fact, few valedictorians have 1590 SAT’s.
In his life time the Ivy League schools will be revealed for the joke that they really are. When corporations find that minorities graduating from these schools can’t multiply simply numbers things will change.
I don’t know, and I didn’t ask. If he were a she or a colored he would have been whisked in with open arms at any medical school in America, betcha, though.
Keep American culturally western and tell non-westerners (including Koreans) to improve their own countries.
Your friend who went to Yale, do you know if he is conservative or liberal?
He can, but we shouldn’t be funding, as we do, colleges that grievously discriminate by race—as likely is the case here.
Give him one of a few different racial labels and try to imagine the story as happening.
