I’m thinking they’re more like “Blink 182” groupies.

Sting is better as a solo artist.

I can’t imagine that is true. He makes things too slow, melodies too boring, guitar too simplistic. He’s only had one song that could have been a Police song.

Hmmmm as a former drummer back in the 1970’s Copeland was and still is one of the best drummers. Played with a Jazz feel and could rock with the best of them. Summers was also an exceptional guitar player. Not sure where you come off as saying they were mediocre.

We all have opinions. I see them as mediocre players mostly forgotten in a mediocre band with only one real talent Sting.
You apparently think they are wonderful. Great.

I am a bit younger than you (I think) but my older sister went to a Police show in 1983 (Synchronicity Tour) and she thought the same thing you did.

that is a really stupid question

I think of the Dana Carvey routine:
“How are you Gordy?”
“Uh, excuse would you mind calling me ‘Sting’ from now on?”
“F___ you! Yeah my name’s ‘Bite’ and this is my pal, ‘Scratch’. Now go get me a beer, Gordy.”
“Ok, two Coors Lights coming right up.....I’m gonna be a big rock star some day, you’ll see....I’ll be watching you....”

I would have to agree with that.
I did get to see them in Omaha, after the release of Zenyatta Mondatta.

He had more top ten hits with the Police, and none of his albums hit #1 in the U.S., or sold as well as Synchronicity.
