During closing arguments of the sentencing phase of Pearson’s trial, the prosecutor asked the jury to consider a number that would “send a message” to Pearson and society...Pearson had prior convictions of aggravated robbery and continuous family violence.
Defense Attorney Jim Shaw argued to the jury that the sentencing was for a “simple misdemeanor” in a circumstance that got “out of control.”
But due to his prior convictions, the minimum sentence Pearson could have received would’ve been 25 years.
“If you’re going to live the life of crime, you’re going to do that among other criminals [in prison],” Gorman said during closing arguments

Wrong! The spitter, and previously convicted felon who was previously found guilty of aggravated robbery and continuous family violence. (Whatever constitutes that?) is a democRat.
With all sort of new “crimes” being created by leftists against conservatives, I don’t think this is very encouraging. Think of all the violations that can pile up by using and abusing “hate crimes” and tax laws.
The communists always like to buy their opponents rope to hang them. By appealing to the natural and reflexive tendency of conservatives to support a tough law and order position, they can pervert the law and due process and weaponize it against their opponents. Anyone watching what they’ve done to Trump can see this.
Today it’s a dirt-ball that gets excessive punishment. But we see now as well, it’s those that oppose the leftist establishment.

He will be 106 when he is paroled in 70 years.
He most likely will no longer capable of spitting - so no longer a threat.
But you never know.
You should never underestimate the power of those with a strong drive to commit acts of 'over the top' pernicious evil.
To say nothing of the 'spitting augmentation' medical technologies that
will then be available to those folks who were previously labelled 'elderly'...

1) this is an absurdly harsh sentence for the conduct.
I get the impression he’s got multiple priors and people just didn’t want him loose anymore.
I am guessing Pearson is a Negro.
Now he’ll spend the rest of his life wondering whether or not somebody spit in his prison food.
