Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is heading to D.C. next week, marking a rare return to the nation’s capital as he ramps up for an expected run for president.
The governor is set to meet with Republican members of Congress and conservative leaders for an event dubbed as a “meet and greet policy discussion.” It will be held on April 18.
DeSantis is expected to be joined by a group that includes Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher, Illinois Rep. Darin LaHood, and Rep. Randy Feenstra, who hails from the first-in-the-nation caucus state of Iowa. According to a copy of the invitation, other expected guests include Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie and Texas Rep. Chip Roy, both of whom have endorsed DeSantis’ prospective presidential bid.
DeSantis has rarely spent time in Washington since leaving Congress in 2018. And his return there is likely to be closely watched for the reception he receives among elected Republicans, the vast majority of whom have not stated their preference in the primary.
Senior members of DeSantis’ political team over this week called members of the Florida congressional delegation to give them political briefings and to share updates on the governor’s activities, according to a person familiar with the conversations. The officials have been looking to establish ties with the state delegation, which could prove important should DeSantis decide to run for president.

DeSantis has continued his travel ahead of a potential bid, including upcoming stops in New Hampshire and South Carolina, both of which historically hold early nominating contests. He is expected to spend the end of the month traveling abroad, including to Israel.

Ron needs to sit this one out. Nothing good will come of this. I have criticized Trump on this forum for allowing the election to get stolen, for allowing Fauci to destroy this country and our civil liberties, but Trump deserves another shot at this, and Ron needs to stay put to keep this party together for the run against the Democrats. Ron WILL NOT win the nomination, so I don’t see the point of his running.

Sorry Ron. I will not vote for you until 2028. That is, if we are still allowed to vote in 2028.

Who’s saying Trump doesn’t deserve another shot besides the communists? Let Trump run. If he wins he wins. If DeSantis wins, he wins. Why do we need to have a coronation? If Trump handled his business dealing with all the subversives in his administration and the obstacles the communists threw at him we wouldn’t be in this position anyway.

whoever is advising desantis, and he appears to have and need MANY advisors to tell him all the things he should and should not do, (unlike trump who needs none because trump is a self-reliant person who KNOWS what to do), they’re gonna end up destroying his future because desperation will inevitably set in, and they’ll inevitably go scorched-earth out of desperation before they finally call it quits ... basically, the exact same thing happened to Ted Cruz in 2015-2016, and the DeSantis hired tons of these former Cruz campaign “advisors” ...
desantis should wait four more years and/or join the trump team as VP ... no one, not even desantis, has a shot at beating trump in the primary ... and they’re delusional if they think they DO have a shot ...

To understand the humor in this it’s important to know that Florida Voice News is a fake news and Astroturf media operation set up entirely to promote Ron DeSantis. Organized by CEO Brandon Leslie, a man who Will Rogers never met, the entire construct of the Florida’s Voice media firm (established in 2021) is to support and promote Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Florida Voice Media conducted a poll from their Twitter account. The FLVoice followers are all DeSantis supporters. That’s the backdrop for this level of funny.
Even when a poll is conducted within the group that carries the most die-hard Ron DeSantis supporters, the results are the worst yet. The results are so bad for Ron DeSantis, that even Donald Trump promoted the DeSantis media operation on his Truth Social account.

Even with all of the DeSantis die-hards on Twitter supporting the effort, they can only gather 16% support. President Trump grows his 2024 GOP primary support to 80%.
“Top Gov” has sad.

He's in his mid 40’s. Biden's in his early 80’s, and looks like the Crypt keeper. Plus. He has a Kendeyesque Wife and family. Why can't we go younger now?

“Trump has to earn the Nomination like every on else.”
i think he did that during his four years of his Presidency, during which he started no new wars, no major wars were started by others, no inflation, energy independence, no shortages of critical medicines, food, eneregy, parts and other goods, cheap energy, building the southern wall, xl pipeline construction, no mandates to eliminate ICE vehicles in favor of forced purchase of useless EVs, no mandates to eliminate light bulbs, no attempts to regulate ditches and corn row furrows as “waters of the nation”, no mandates to eliminate NG appliances, no Federal lockdowns, no Federal vax mandates, no attacks by his government on free speech, tariffs on steel, aluminum and other goods ... NATA paying tens of billions for their own defense, builtup US military, biggest tax cut on the middle-class in U.S. history ... and did all of that with the rest of the GOP, all the media, the deep state, the Democrats and the rest of the world continuously attacking him ... i’d say trump has “earned” the nomination a thousand times over already ...
