Simple. Imagine your Black, now imagine your told how The white People are evil, hate you and do all they can to keep you in poverty? Imagine people you trust, even from the pulpit, from the classroom, tell you that all white people are rich, selfish, racists. Imagine you are told by your family that all of your failures, their failures, were caused by the white race. None of those were their fault—all cased in one way or another by the white people. Imagine you trust the people telling you this. Now imagine people telling you Blacks created cavillation, building great things—but all this knowledge was stolen by white people. Imagine thinking every white person is super rich, with new things you can only dream about and never afford. Then you interact with some whites who are jerks, condescending A-holes. You might think its OK to steal from such an evil race—or even kill them to “get even” for all their real or imagined sins. Even the Christian message of forgiveness is rejected as a White Man’s fantasy designed to keep them in bondage and back breaking poverty. These Black kids were taught hate at home. They become prisoners of their own hate.

Welfare happened. Republicans need to wake up too. While O’Brandon is busy putting public housing in the suburbs, Republicans are passing out school vouchers. Do you think the parent of this 12 yr old won’t be using these vouchers and sending their kids to semi-acceptable schools in the burbs? We’ll probably even have to pay for the bussing. Bringing gang bangers to a semi safe neighborhood.
The f*** law and order people will be demanding the schools that you’ve worked and sacrificed everything to get your kids into - will become far more dangerous.
I was six years old in 1959. I lived in NC. I hung around with a lot of kids my age. Many of the were black. I remember I admired the fathers in their homes.
My dad was then stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. We were out of the country for 6 years. All my black friends there were really great.
When we returned to The States, things had turned for the worse. Many of the black kids my age had absentee fathers. There were many who were thugs. I don’t know what happened in those few years.
