Loggins And Messina ANGRY EYES
Youtube ^ | Loggins and Messina

I saw them in my first big stadium concert, the US Bicentennial concert at Tampa Stadium, July 4, 1976. They were the first act followed by Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles.

One of their all time best songs.

Here is the best Loggins and Messina concert I’ve seen:

If you stick around for the final encore, the transition from “Danger Zone” to “Footloose” is totally epic!

On an episode of “The Song” he said House At Pooh Corner was first recorded by the Nitty Gritty Dirt band, but Disney Corp shut down its release. Through a friend who was pals w/the Disney CEO’s daughter, he met and played it for the CEO - who gave the OK for Loggins to record/release it without actually getting a release from them.

He said he wrote it about his own graduation from high school and worries about heading out into the world (like Pooh leaving the 100 acre wood).

Wow! What a line-up that was! :)

One of my faves is, ‘Watching The River Run.’ Never realized it was about ‘aging’ as a teen, of course. It’s a whole new song to me, now. ;)

And, ‘Your Mama Don’t Dance’ is fun. Hard to sit still through that one, for sure! :)

I’ve always considered Jim Messina to be an underrated guitarist.

I saw the in Barton Hall, Cornell. Either 75 or 76. Fourth row, got in for free cuz my bud’s dad was head of maintenance at Cornell.

Good sit down concert (thank God no House at Pooh Corner, sorry), until they played Vahevala. That got everyone up the rest of the way. Angry Eyes was my favorite. Messina was the rocker, Loggins was the pop.

Correct, Messina was very good with guitar and Mandolin.

But, they had one GREAT saxophone player: Listen to his work on this song.

I saw them perform at Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University.
It was May 1972.

George Carlin was the main event. Loggins & Messina were the opening act.

It was my first real date.

I liked Carlin but I was blown over by Loggins & Messina. Made me a fan from that point onward.
