Ivermectin is one of the many drugs that is affected by the P450 issue. If you plan on taking it be very aware of how things can make a difference if you have normal enzyme activity. And if you have never had a thorough P450 genetic test be careful of what you take with it.

And for those taking Quercetin..same applies. I can’t remember if there was an interaction with Ivermectin but it does affect other drugs

Why does the package insert say “Do not administer to animals you plan to eat”?

Yup. I’m reluctant to order from india mart or the-like, let alone any web-based portal - especially amazon - hawking stuff which is likely counterfeit and contains either inadequate active ingredient and/or toxins. I’ve also been reluctant to try horse paste due to unknowns pertaining to the inactive ingredients.

I tried to get a buddy to get some pills while on vacation in mehico, but he got cold feet.

Anytime you are taking, or considering taking, a new drug it is a good idea to check for interactions. Especially as you get older (it happens to us all).

Dear Self, check on your computer for a town, and a pharmacy. Call them and ask. If you go to a farm store, they will have it.

So you you'll buy from Mexicans but not Indians? Why, are they the wrong shade of brown?

You are welcome. I see it says you must “present in person” though, so it looks like you cannot order online.

You didn’t ask for my thoughts on ivermectin, but here they are anyway.

I had high hopes for it in the beginning. It looked promising in vitro and it’s an old, safe, cheap drug. I’ve given out lots of it in countries where worm infestations are common. It’s a wonderful drug. I probably would have taken it myself when I got Covid in February of 2020, but it either had not been talked about yet, or I didn’t know about it yet. It was quite the nasty case, high fever and lung congestion so bad I felt like I was drowning. I took nothing but Tylenol, as that’s all I had. I’ve had some pretty nasty scary tropical diseases, including malaria, but it was the first time in my life I feared I might die. Then, suddenly, three days later, I was all better.

Anyway, as studies came out, some showing it helped some, others showing it did not (and none of them large enough or properly done), I recognized that pattern as I have seen it in other promising drugs that did not pan out: they look good in vitro, but in vivo they don’t do much of anything. Still, I hoped and sat on the fence about it, waiting for larger scale properly-done clinical trials. Well, when they finally came out, they showed ivermectin did not work. Drat.

A number of Freepers say the clinical trials turned out as they did because the ivermectin was not paired with zinc. According to them, ivermectin is an ionosphore of zinc and this is why it it helpful in combating Covid. I think they could well be onto something there. They also say HCQ and quercetin are ionosphores of zinc.

Quercetin has many health benefits, is anti-inflammatory, cheap, and you can order it from Amazon. I recommend the powder form, as you need to take rather a lot of it and it’s quite affordable that way. Stir it into your coffee or make a milkshake or smoothie with it. And supplement with zinc. But be careful with the zinc and don’t overdo it!

Don’t take my word for it, of course. Do your own research.

I know lots of Freepers swear by ivermectin. I don’t disbelieve their stories. On the other hand, my horrible case of the original Alpha Covid resolved in three days — had I been taking ivermectin, I might well believe it cured me. I did not get Delta, and, again, had I been taking ivermectin I might well credit it for that. I did get Omicron. It was pretty mild, like a bad cold plus weird backache. It resolved in three days, same as Alpha had. This is just anecdotal evidence and my personal experience, of course — same as the people who say it worked for them. And there have been cases of people dying of Covid while taking ivermectin. And one of the main promoters of ivermectin, Dr. Kory, got Covid even though he was taking it prophylacticly.

Also, many, if not most, Freepers take zinc along with ivermectin or HCQ, and it might work for them because of that. My opinion, based on available research, is that ivermectin doesn’t do much of anything for Covid on its own (I so wish it did!), unless you have worms (and then it really does help), and may help if taken with the correct supplementation of zinc. Anyway, you might want to look into quercetin** in place of ivermectin if you can’t get the ivermectin. Just an idea.

I am not a doctor. Please do your own research. There is a lot of false info out there, coming from both sides. It’s not easy to navigate through all the false claims made by both sides. I do understand and sympathize with wanting a safe, cheap drug to treat and prevent Covid. I want it, too. I just don’t think ivermectin is it, at least not without zinc. And if it’s all about being an ionosphere of zinc, why not use quercetin instead?

All that said, ivermectin is an old, safe, cheap drug. If someone believes in it, why not let him or her try it? I wonder, though, about taking it constantly long term. When used for parasites, it’s usually a one and done deal. I don’t know of any cases where people have taken it daily or weekly for years, as some are doing to prevent Covid these days. (HCQ is a different matter, and people have taken it constantly for years.)

*This video is a year old, but Dr. Mark does an excellent job of explaining why the in vitro study looked promising, and why ivermectin does not work in vivo (at least not without zinc), starting at about the two minute mark. I think the whole video is still worth watching:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d17pAo6S2MU

And he generously provides all the slides and graphs he used here for download:

**It’s just a mouse study, but one showing quercetin+zinc+VitC is helpful in preventing cytokine storm:

More studies here, no idea how good they are, as I did not read them:

More info —

Fresh Pharmacy can ship to an address only if it’s a TN address. (Do you know someone there who can accept the mail and forward to you?)

It’s a compounding pharmacy so will sell it compounded, which is what we get. It’s more precise to your weight, and is quite a bit cheaper than the pills. They also sell the regular pills.

“you need to locate a pharmacy that has the capacity to make the pills on-site.”

Our pharmacy has and sells both.

Look at ivermectin.com
USA shipped. is kinda spendy. But you can compare to India pharmacy’s prices. takes 4 or 5 days after payment off site.

That horse paste you posted an image of looks promising. The box says it “removes bots”. Any way FreeRepublic’s webmaster can infuse some of it here? We have way too many bots — and even worms.

If you think you might like to try to try quercetin, have a look at this in case you are taking any of these drugs. It might not be good idea if you are:

https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/supplement/quercetin

Same goes for ivermectin. Check for interactions with any other medicines you take.

“Then I need to fill out this form and the most important part would be weight I guess.”

The form we had to fill out did have weight, but also a list of some other drugs/meds that are not compatible with Ivermectin. For example, for blood thinner I take Eliquis and Ivermectin is not a problem. But if taking Warfarin / Coumadin, it’s a problem.

“But it was still cheaper to get it from India, places like alldaychemist.”

You might be right about that. I’ve never ordered from out of the country, but to get it OTC it is NOT cheap. I like the convenience of just going to get it. (I know at one point in time, the USPS was confiscating packages from India and don’t know if that is still the case.)

“I tried to get a buddy to get some pills while on vacation in mehico”

In ports while on cruises, I’ve bought antibiotics, e.g., Cipro, from the pharmacies. Now I’m re-thinking that with so many stories of drugs bought in Mexico having possible fentanyl contamination.

Rofl! I used to help out the vet when he “botted” the horses at our horse club when I was a teen. I don’t think they do that anymore, but those nasty bots came flying out the horses’ noses after he inserted the hose. It was soooo gross! I can’t help imagining the sort of bots that infest the web are just as gross.

Yuk. I don’t even know what a bot is, if you don’t count the trolls on FR. Maybe I don’t want to know.
