The Trump indictment is a poor test case for prosecuting a former president

Donald Trump deserves the legal scrutiny he’s getting — which has come from many corners on many counts. Yet of the long list of alleged violations, the likely charges on which a grand jury in New York state voted to indict him are perhaps the least compelling. There’s cause for concern, and caution, ahead. [cut]
Breaches of campaign finance law undermine democracy and deserve to be taken seriously. Yet the potential downsides of indicting Mr. Trump ought to be taken seriously, too. This prosecution is now bound to be the test case for any future former president, as well as, of course, proceedings against this former president in particular — of which there are plenty. Other investigations underway include Justice Department examinations of the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and classified documents discovered at Mar-a-Lago, where the possibility of obstruction of justice is particularly grave. These are straightforward cases compared with the one proceeding in Manhattan. A failed prosecution over the hush-money payment could put them all in jeopardy, as well as provide Mr. Trump ammunition for his accusations of “witch hunt” — in light of which House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was right to urge supporters to refrain from protesting.

Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection
“Insurrection” when you start your argument with a lie all that follows can be discarded.

What they are really worried about is that Democrat President past, current and future can (and mostly likely) face criminal charges from bias local District Attorneys.
The United States has become a third world nation where the political parties can use the power of the government to go after their opposition.

Agree it’s a bad charge, but Bragg had the charge available and rolled with it.

One of the biggest reasons the left continues to push this bovine excrement is because they don’t fear reprisal from the right (the other half of the Uniparty).
They don’t believe this will ever come back to haunt them.
Sadly, they may well be correct.

This reminds me of when Ronnie Earl, the DA of Travis County TX went after Tom Delay in 2005. Tom ultimately beat it.

Sometimes, the Washington Compost sees things with exceptional clarity. Wrong hill, wrong fight, for the Soros “liberals” to die upon. They just haven’t realized it yet.
But among all the chaos, sometimes karma rears its dragon head. Sure there will be new battle scars, but they shall not all be only on our side.
Sure, George Soros can step back, relatively unscathed, but Alvin Bragg has just tilted at a windmill, like Don Quixote.

For his opening monologue tonight, Fox News host Tucker Carlson highlights the increased visibility of the dual justice system as it has shown up in just the past 48 hours.
Using the Douglass Mackey conviction and the Donald Trump indictment, both from the state of New York, Carlson puts an exclamation point on the toxic nature of the two-tiered system of justice; accurately noting they are not trying to hide it, because the visibility of it is the point. The leftists in control of power positions want Americans to see their weaponization of that position in order to create fear and anxiety. The provocation is the point… WATCH:
“Necklaces in the streets”…. The leftists in America and the corporate media who support them, would dance gleefully at the visibility of victims in the streets who had gasoline filled tires around forced over their body then lit on fire (South African ANC “Necklaces”).

Poor case?
Hardly.
The MSM has convinced at least half the country that Non-Disclosure Agreements (which they call Hush Money) are felonies.
