I don’t have a pool, but I have an indoor bike and two for outside. As long as the muscle is stretched good, I might be able to do it. The specialist told me to ride the inside bike but the first time I tried it, the leg muscle knotted up and pulled the worst case of tendonitis I ever had in that foot. I have tried it since, but I chicken out and don’t ride for long. I have never had pain like that. I told the specialist that the fall that messed the ankle up didn’t hurt as bad as the tendonitis from it has since.
I suspect that even though neither ankle ever bothered me until I fell four years ago, a history of running track in school made them weak. I had to quit track because of so many twisted ankles. Also, almost 40 years in high-top steel-toed boots at work didn’t help either, I guess. Until I went into management, I drove a forklift and the constant jumping on and off worked on the ankles and made them weak.
