As I am married to a lawyer, we are constantly subject to what I call “the attorney tax”— contractors and service providers and such just jack up the bill assuming we’re wealthy (and we are not.) We have even had contractors defraud us and had to hire lawyers ourselves! I have to keep track of when it fricking snows so I am not paying excess fees because someone assumes I don’t look at my bills! My point is Paltrow was right in not letting herself get shaken down by this guy, because that just opens the door wide for the next person to try the same thin
As much as I instinctively dislike Paltrow, I think she (and her lawyers) were correct in this; and I’m pleased that she prevailed.
