A 28-year-old intoxicated Florida man on a bicycle was arrested Wednesday after he failed to exit U.S. 1 or stop for deputies.
Clayton Guy Peavey of Marathon was charged with DUI and fleeing and eluding, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
According to deputies, Peavey was impeding traffic while on a bicycle on U.S. 1 near 15th Street at approximately 9 a.m.
Deputies attempted to stop Peavey with their lights and sirens activated. Peavey did not stop and began to peddle faster.
He finally stopped at 29th Street after tiring and was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
Hmm, Interlock, is that the device they put on your car after multiple DUIs so that you have to ask your neighbor to blow in it for you before you can drive?
Nancy Pelosi called Harry Reid into her office one day and said, "Harry, I have a plan to win back the hearts of voters in Middle America in 2014!"
"Great Nancy, but how?" asked Harry.
"We'll get some cheap, tacky clothes and shoes, like most Middle Class Americans wear, then stop at the animal shelter and pick up a Labrador retriever.
Then, we'll go to a nice old roadhouse in Texas and show them how much admiration and respect we have for the hard working middle-class people living there."
So they did, and found just the place they were looking for in Odessa, Texas. With the dog in tow, they walked inside and stepped up to the bar.
The Bartender took a step back and said, "Hey! Aren't you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi?"
"Yes we are!" said Nancy, "And what a lovely town you have here. We were passing through and Harry suggested we stop and take in some local color."
They ordered a round of Lone Star beer for the whole bar, and started chatting up a storm with anyone who would listen.
A few minutes later, a grizzled old rancher came in, walked up to the Labrador, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, shrugged his shoulders and walked out.
A few moments later, in came another old rancher. He walked up to the dog, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, scratched his head and left the bar.
For the next hour, another dozen ranchers came in, lifted the dog's tail, and left shaking their heads.
Finally, Nancy asked, "Why did all those old ranchers come in and look under the dog's tail? Is it some sort of custom?"
"Oh, hell no," said the bartender. "Somebody's running around town tellin' folks there's a Labrador Retriever in here with two assholes!"
I actually asked a state trooper if you could get a DUI for mowing your grass on a riding lawn mower on your own property and he said yes you can. And he wasn't kidding.
When my Bn. Cmdr questioned the fact that I did not take a stripe per post policy

You left out the best part, it was on a bicycle.
I was passenger with a guy driving a golf cart down Dale Mabry Highway towards MacDill gate at 2:30 a.m....

We both received Art. 15s - he for DUI.
He finally stopped at 29th Street after tiring and was booked into the Monroe County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
Let's see: He's on a bicycle. They're chasing him in police cruisers with their lights and sirens on. They didn't catch him until he got tired of peddling and stopped?
I wasn’t aware a company grade article 15 could result in a loss of rank. I was under the impression it would need to be at least a field grade article 15 for a reduction in rank.
Depends upon the rank of the person receiving an article 15. In this case, I would have to refer it to the Bn. Cdr. I chose to handle it myself which precluded the BN CDr from acting.
I much prefer the national guard system. If you can promote a person to a given rank, then you can demote from that rank. IIRC, a company cdr could promote to E6 so he could demote an E6. No article 15s in the NG. Just write a letter informing the individual of the demotion. But beware, he can appeal to the next higher.
Not far past a Dunkin Donuts
I got that, but its ridiculous even in a car. At Fort Devens when I was there, you could get sent to Charlie’s Chicken Farm (CCF) for an Article 15.
