Looks like deGrom is going to be a bust from the Rangers.

What else is new?

Just first game. We can’t beat the Rangers for some reason. Braves and Mets Aces both hurt on the same day.

Strange. DeGrom gives up 5 runs in 3.2 innings, but got 7 strikeouts.

Also, when was the last opening day where the Giants played the Yankees? Late 50s?
______________________________________________________________

The only opening day that the Giants would play the Yankees in the 50’s would be game 1 of the World Series.

If you have 6 divisions of 5 teams each, you need at least one interleague series going on at any one time.

For instance, the west plays the east for 6 series - odd team out plays in the opposite league for a series. The circuit is complete.

Two circuits of the league would be 18 series x 2 = 36
Plus 2 more circuits of the division = 12
One more team in the same league, opposite division = 1

That leaves two series left over. They do an extra series with the “rival” in the opposite league - they could make it two.

That’s not how they do the schedule but I’ve kicked the idea around.

Rangers scored 16 today, that’s 27 runs in 2 games against the defending NL Champs.

Houston may have some competition in the West from their In-State Buddies.
