No, if Kurzweil is correct, Social Security and Medicare will be saved due to a surge in productivity, cost savings, and tax revenue. I am skeptical though because the innovation that he is looking to — nanorobotics — is so far more conjectural than real.

Ray Kurzweil is a much smarter man than I am. I’ve heard him speak in person several times, I have some of his books and I have the utmost respect for the man, his accomplishments and his vision. But his attempts to apply Moore’s Law to medicine, bio-technology and AI have never made much sense to me.
