“Online puffer fish? What could possibly go wrong.”
Worse than gas statipn sushi.
Tetrodotoxin.
democrats?
yeah i was kidding about eating it whole— eating puffer fish is very risky even when the chef is skilled- accidents can and do happen-
yeah that is an important issue- i woudl imagine it’s kinda like novice mushroom collectors vs experienced- it can be deadly if not doen right
comes from china, preserved in antifreeze
Bkmk
It kind of seems like it might not be worth the trouble. 🤔
My office colleagues invited me out a time or three to dine, assuring me that the place we would be going were experts in the preparation of fugu.
I politely declined telling them that playing Russian Roulette just wasn't my thing even if the pistol had 100 or more chambers.
If this was their first time could be a simple allergic reaction. My dad’s first (and only) time I wound up taking him to the emergency room because he was getting to the point he could hardly breath due to swelling in the neck.
This fish is EXTREMELY poisonous if not prepared by an expert, what the hell were they thinking!!
When I was in Japan a friend of mine tried to get me to try some. My logic was that there are 4 possible outcomes, and none of them are really good.
1) I don’t like it and I die - very bad
2) I like and I die - pretty much just as bad
3) I don’t like it and I live - better, but not great
4) I like it and I live.
#4 seems good - but it would just tempt me to try it again something and possibly end up back at #2.
So in the end - no good outcome at all.
Just when I had my heart set on some gas station fugu....
And don’t eat any sushi from a gas station vending machine.
Hmm . . . reminds me of the Columbo episode “Murder Under Glass”.
I tried to convince my wife that puffer fish were cigarette smoking fish that were full of tobacco carcinogens that would kill you if you ate it. That or “puffer” alluded to them being gay and therefore full of the AIDS virus. She almost bought it.
