We went to the Vietnam War Memorial about a dozen or so years ago, when we were in the DC area. It was very emotional to see all of the names. Just incredible.
If people haven’t ever been there, I do recommend it.

Just lost a best bud who was in Nam. He asked to be privately buried in a Veterans Cemetery. Miss him.
He was very modest about his service but did tell me this year that he did guard duty in their helicopter above the stage of Bob Hope.

April 1, 1970 I departed Travis AFB for Vietnam, assigned to A Troop. 1/9th Cav, made it home safely a year later, I still grieve for the 58,000+ of my Brothers who never made it home, RIP.
Good grief, 53 years ago.

Thank you for your service.
One of my brothers was called up, and was on his way to Jacksonville to report for duty, and before they could send him out, TPTB called the whole thing off. We all thought we would never see him alive again. There were so many who didn’t return to their families except in coffins. We were extremely lucky.

Wow! Even more impressive than the old one! I use to love that part of our trips out that way. It either meant we were leaving Florida for out west or weeks later, coming home. Always memorable in either direction.

It’s beautiful.
The west bound 2 lanes finally opened just a couple of weeks ago.
Was damaged in Hurricane Sally, old bridge was already torn down, so caused a 50 mile detour to I-10.................
