Your fourth question can almost be a trick question. We declared independence from Great Britain in 1776, but we still had to win the war, so technically it wasn’t until 1783.

The third question as to what terrible event happened during WWII has several possible answers ranging from the bombing of Warsaw in 1939 to
Operation Keelhaul in 1945, yet no one even came close to a correct answer.

And the first Articles of Confederation were an abysmal failure. You could argue we weren’t truly free until the Constitution was drafted and subsequently ratified.
