First responders used an aerial ladder to reach the trapped parachutist, who was conscious and talking, and lead her down to safety before 1 p.m.
Incredibly, the woman escaped unscathed. She was evaluated at the scene by medics but refused any further medical treatment.
Once back on firm ground, the skydiver, who declined to give her name, told NBC Los Angeles that she was trying to avoid flying into another set of power lines but ended up ensnared on Croydon Street.
The ill-fated parachutist is a student at Skydive Elsinore and was making her inaugural jump Monday using her own canopy, according to Josh Hall, the skydiving facility’s general manager.
“The parachute opened properly and was in perfect working order. At some point during the parachute descent, the jumper became confused and flew away from an open landing area and into power lines,”

In the MCU, this sort of incident often results in superpowers.
Her first time and wasn’t a tandem jump ? The stupid prize she won for her stupidity wasn’t stupid enough.
I would inquire about a refund.
(I haven't jumped in decades, but it's a lot of fun.)
She wanted to pull over and ask for directions.
A member of the Flying Elvises?
If she was jumping her own parachute it was either a static line jump or an accelerated freefall jump with two teachers next to her. The only thing stupid she did was fixate on the object she wanted to avoid, and that guarantees you’re going to run into it.
I am betting an Asian lady.
The dumb journalist maybe, probably meant to say...”her inaugural first solo jump”. Journalist probably doesn’t know about initial training two person jump.
As always, so many journalists know very little about the events or happenings they write or talk about.
I have wanted to skydive for years, but I would need to drop some tonnage first. I have never wanted to Bungee Jump, always concerned about pulling one of my arms out of socket or slamming into a mountainside like a pendulum.
Nope.
What could possibly go wrong?
I would doubt both. If she was AFF, she would have a radio receiver in her helmet and they would guide her down. I also doubt it was static line. They said it was her own canopy, which means she shelled out 2,000+ dollars for it, so chances are good she had her A license. I would think she pulled the cord herself.
Sorry. I stand corrected.
Well the journalist wrote this story as if this was her first jump ever, i understood that when they said it was her own chute, and she was not on a tandem. But your explanation sounds the most reasonable. Either way she fixated her eyes on an object she was trying to avoid and hit it. Good thing she was flying a parachute and not a hang glider with all that aluminum..........
Protip, if you want to skydive one time, go tandem. The instructors usually have 100’s if not 1,000’s of jumps under their belt. You can still learn to skydive thru the tandem method. You jump from higher altitudes which gives you more time to recover from any issues. It takes about 15 minutes to be trained.
Static line, they teach you for a couple hours and then push you out of a plane at 3-4,000 feet. Tandem typically deploy at 5,000 feet.
