A tiger is apparently loose in Troup County, Georgia, on Sunday morning after a tornado tore through the area, authorities said.
The Pine Mountain Animal Safari reported that a tiger at the park was unaccounted for, the Troup County Sheriff's Office said.
It was unclear how the tiger escaped. The park posted on Facebook that it will be closed on Sunday.

I guess the storm scared him and he managed to find an escape route and went hunting for safety.
Who says he necessarily escaped?
Not knowing exactly what was hit by a tornado and what wasn’t...
“Is it possible” that Mr. Tiger is in the next county to the northeast, and is not a threat to anyone?
Or is this just a case of better safe than sorry?
Just axin’.
The article was short on details.
Did the storm cause damage to his holding pen allowing him an avenue for escape? Or, did he just magically disappear during the night? Just set his feeding dish out and run the can opener. He will come running back pretty fast.
Exotic game animal. Like elk in Texas. Fair game.
Lions and tigers and bears. Oh my.
He could be anywhere in the state!
Knew a guy who bagged an escaped nilgai. Fair game.
Yikes! Issuing a “escaped tiger unaccounted for” alert doesn’t breed public confidence in local authorities.
The word “yikes” comes to mind… well, actually “oh expletive” came first, but “yikes” is more family friendly…
One of my professors from Rutgers spent a year in India after ww2. He had a reputation as a big game hunter. Was asked to take out a tiger who had killed quite a few people. When he finally got him they found jewelry inside his stomach so they got the right one. After he died he left the hide to Princeton University were he taught several geology courses.

If there was ever a valid reason for “shelter in place,” this would be it!

Looks like a “Stay in your car” and enjoy the animals type place: https://animalsafari.com/georgia-park-home-about-us/ ..i.e. giraffes come right up your car but tigers? Doubt this outfit will survive the coming litigation.
Or as they say in Detroit.
Lions and Tigers and Pistons and Wings....Oh my!
Troup County is in Northwest Georgia, on the Alabama border and hosts the huge West Point Lake and the KIA automobile plant.
I live about 50 miles due West. How far do tigers roam?
Not 1 but 2 tiger escapees now recaptured: https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/26/us/georgia-weather-tornado-tiger-loose-trnd/index.html

I doubt he will wander far from the familiar smells of the safari park. And, he will probably return to his enclosure area around feeding time.
