I think it’s certainly possible that B will remain in office to the end of his term … needs B in office for the purpose of optics as we go through some difficult transitions.

Like you, I think if that happens, it’s because the WH want it to happen. As long as the transitions are happening under what appears to be a Biden/Democrat administration, the left will be mostly quiet and acquiescent. Their hostile reactions to all conservative policy changes are knee-jerk and based mostly on the fact that R’s are making the changes. If they happen under a D administration, they readily go along with things they’d protest in the streets about with a R president.
