I've been reading about the expanding "dump the dollar" brigade going on this week....

do we spend our money NOW or just keep it out of the banks?....

is our money basically worthless if it sits around?

I wish I knew what the best thing to do with dollars was.

The best insight I have is that if you stock up on necessities and items that hold value you will be relatively safe.

~~~~~~~
Since we seem to have more and bolder enemies now than we did with Trump in the oval office...
The “dump the dollar” brigade will give it their best shot. Your guess is as good as mine how successful they will be, but I’ve been spending some of the little I have on things we might need should things go south for a time... while we know that money can still buy such things.
Dad and I still want to make our greenhouse happen, in our case.
I spread mine around. I don't have much, but I keep what I have in different places. We have joint checking and savings. I have a credit union account with savings and checking, and I have a stock account. I figure that if the bank shuts down for a few days, I can use the CU debit card.
I don't carry cash, but I might need to start. I keep $20 or so in the glove box of my vehicle but that's it. Instead, I have a huge rubber tub under the kitchen table stashed with dried beans, sugar, and other staples that will keep for long periods of time. I keep a good supply of extra dog food and make some of my own that I dehydrate, vacuum seal, and put in the freezer. If the freezer goes off, the dog food is OK since it's also been dried.
We have 44 acres that can be planted but my garden is normally small. I have a stash of heirloom seeds that I dry, refrigerate, and plant instead of hybrids.
I'm in farm country where people can, and do, barter with each other. We take care of each other. For example, when my husband had a major wreck and was in the hospital for three months, it was gardening season. My neighbors knew I didn't have time to garden so each day when I came home my porch was filled with fresh corn, okra, tomatoes, etc. It's what we do here. They supplied me with more than I would have grown. It was difficult finding time to can it all.
I bought my original seeds here. It is a family owned business that I support 100%.
