You can turn off auto-correct on an iPhone. On mine, I go to Settings, Keyboard and, from inside Keyboard, you can toggle auto-correct on or off. I have an old model SE because I like the very small size. It may be a slightly different procedure on a newer iPhone. I know nothing about androids.
