I will say, at least Bruce Jenner did compete against men.
Caster Semenya was assigned the sex female a birth. “She” has 5α-Reductase 2 deficiency, which according to Wikipedia is a rare condition that only affects genetic males. This defect results in a spectrum of phenotypes including overt genital ambiguity, hypospadias (failure of the urethra to open), and micropenis (sadly, what it sounds like). Affected males still develop typical masculine features at puberty (deep voice, facial hair, muscle bulk).
If you have an X-chromosome and can impregnant a woman, you’re a man.
He apparently still trains.
To his credit, he’s old and still turns in numbers that would make him Olympic material. He pointed that out in the absurdity of letting biological males compete.
I’m a mediocre power lifter. Hit a 700 on a deadlift the other day, which is about 400lbs off from being remotely competitive. Benched 405 (terrible for competitive purposes) and squatted almost 700 (which wouldn’t get me laughed at). (That all has to add up to over 2000 to even qualify for a regional meet; I’m not ever going to make it.)
To piss off a feminist at the gym, I said I identify as a woman (never mind the beard) and am now the strongest woman in the world.
